India is a signatory to both Education for All Goals and Millennium Development Goals, and in 2000 launched Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan to make free and compulsory education a fundamental right, for children of 6-14 years age group.
India’s challenge to have education for all is magnified by the sheer size of the child population, which is estimated at 440 million. With 27.5 percent of the population living on less than $1 a day, access to education still seems like a distant dream to millions of children in India..
Vital Statistics
- Approximately, 37 percent of the population lack literacy skills 53 percent of children drop out at the elementary level.
- Over 75 percent of rural schools are multi-grade i.e. the schools are under staffed.
- India still has over a third of the world’s children (6–11 year olds) out of school—around 40 million, though latest Government of India statistics shows this figure at 7 million only.
- 23 percent of children remain out of school - 59 percent of whom are girls. These issues are compounded even further by various forms of social exclusion that exist in Indian society, such as caste and gender discrimination, and the fact that a large number of children remain engaged in exploitative labour.
- Pre-primary education in India is not a fundamental right, with a very low percentage of children receiving preschool educational facilities.
Why is there inadequate education in so many places?
- Insufficient number of school buildings especially in remote areas.
- Lack of Qualified Teachers and their unwillingness to work in remote areas where there are limited amenities.
- Uneducated parents unable to help educate their children.
- Families unable to afford the cost of transportation and supplies necessary to educate their children.
Save the Children’s objective
By 2011, children in the age group 3 to 18 years in all project areas including those belonging to marginalized groups will be in learning environments, within an enabling educational system, that is relevant, inclusive, and responsive to their diverse needs.
OUR INITIATIVE
Children from economically weaker sections of society cannot be expected to learn for an education. Instead, the hunger in their bellies often forces them to seek work in place of education. Some of those who do manage to attend school drop out to feed them self and their families while others are known to perform poorly because of short attention spans and lack of financial support.
We are happy to present you with the first fundraising platform in India for the career oriented higher education program for the weaker sections under the campaign “BAL SIKSHA ROZGAAR ABHIYAAN”.
We look for the support from your side in fundraising initiative, work with a team, spread the word about abhiyaan, and work to change the lives of our children. Every rupee you donate will go towards educating bright youngsters dropping education just because of financial constraints.
You can be the part of the abhiyaan as a social worker-
As a volunteer-
A volunteer is one who dreams about a society free from exploitation and poverty surrounding the society or profession he belongs to. He has a vision, missionary zeal and will to act in a planned manner irrespective of his standing or recourses. He is never a part of the problem, but always part of the solution. He analyses the situation impartially as per his own perspective and identifies the key factors responsible for any specific problem under his survey. Since there are very few problems that have not been taken care of in one scheme / law or another, its delivery is suspect due to corruption, inefficiency of the delivery mechanism, ignorance of the beneficiaries or lack of resources. A volunteer is always capable of identifying the problem, and willingly accepts pains to apply the options available in the existing scheme or may even innovative an alternative mechanism that may ensure better delivery. Volunteering either part time or full time but a volunteer will always look for an opportunity to lend his might selflessly to an issue that concerns the society. Action Group for Citizens Rights (AGCR) welcomes volunteers to join and discover the thrill of selfless service and do your bit for a change instead of just blaming others for each and every wrong.

Our Philosophy
As a secular, not-for-profit program implemented only in government schools where there is no discrimination on the basis of religion, gender, color, or socio-economic background, we inspire social action for change.
In support with the Central and respective State Governments of India, HUF is expanding and growing in higher education and career based program in India; and therefore a unique and successful example.
Educating children across seven states in India everyday, HUF believes in cost efficiency and high quality through use of advanced technologies, efficient management and quality workforce.
We recognize that good education is imperative for the sustainable human resource development in the country. On recommendation of the former president of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, we conceptualized HUF, a program that provides career oriented education program to the children in schools. We do this in partnership with other charitable organizations.
Looking at holistic development of children, we sensitize and influence policy makers, urging them to focus on problems of underprivileged children.
